Time Will Only Tell ..............

You came into my life many years ago,
I saw you and I knew
I would always love those eyes

Thinking back I wonder if you knew
How much I wanted to be near you
I can tell you those feelings I once had


Time passed more
And different worlds we did tour
Now, marriages and divorces here we are
We’ve grown older and with many of a scar

Have we learned enough through our successes and fails?
So that together we can take those lessons and sail?
Each of us wanting to be happy and free


Time will only tell
And let’s hope life will serve us well
Because, I know at the end of my life
No matter together or apart

If in your world a friend or lover I will be
There is only one promise you need to give me
All I can ask from the bottom of my heart
Is as you were my first , you’ll be my last
When from this world we do part
